בְּהֵעָצֵ֥ר שָׁמַ֛יִם וְלֹא־יִהְיֶ֥ה מָטָ֖ר כִּ֣י יֶחֶטְאוּ־לָ֑ךְ וְהִֽתְפַּֽלְל֞וּ אֶל־הַמָּק֤וֹם הַזֶּה֙ וְהוֹד֣וּ אֶת־שְׁמֶ֔ךָ וּמֵחַטָּאתָ֥ם יְשׁוּב֖וּן כִּ֥י תַעֲנֵֽם׃
אַז דער הימל װעט זײַן פֿאַרשלאָסן, און עס װעט ניט זײַן קײן רעגן, װײַל זײ האָבן געזינדיקט צו דיר, און זײ װעלן מתפּלל זײַן אַקעגן דעם דאָזיקן אָרט, און װעלן באַקענען דײַן נאָמען, און זיך אומקערן פֿון זײער זינד, װען דו האָסט זײ געפּײַניקט,
Mishneh Torah, Prayer and the Priestly Blessing
With face turned towards the Temple. Anyone outside Palestine turns his face towards the land of Israel and recites the prayer. One who is in the Holy Land turns towards Jerusalem. One who is in Jerusalem turns towards the Temple. If one is in the Temple, he turns towards the Holy of Holies. A person who is either blind, or unable to determine the right direction, or is on a ship, directs his heart to the Divine Presence and prays.
